Research

Research is the cornerstone of our programs and the process that teaches our students to be engineers. Curiosity and exploration in the lab and the classroom are what fuel questions, revisions, and solutions.

School of Engineering faculty members are expert researchers who energize their programs with both their passion for discovery as well as their commitment to mentoring the future’s brightest engineers.

Senior Projects

Each graduating senior is required to conceive and complete an in-depth technical project that showcases his or her engineering research acumen, along with design, cost analysis, construction, testing, and project management skills.

Faculty-Student Mentored Research

With programs that emphasize high-quality thinking and discovery over the quantity of output, professors have the time and ability to bring their students into research projects throughout the academic year—as part of a class or in the students’ own interests. Mentored Undergraduate Summer Experience (MUSE) projects are also completed in the summer as part of 8-week, in-resident collaborations between faculty and students.

Faculty Research Engagement

With faculty that embrace the concept of the teacher-scholar model and enjoy full access to high-technology labs and equipment onsite, the School of Engineering is a place where research flourishes alongside teaching. Our faculty are continually innovating—in their own pursuits, engaging students on projects, and collaborating with industry partners.
