The Doris and Jim Lyon ’70 Scholarship Endowment

Recognizing that GPA and SAT scores are not the only measure of potential, the Doris and Jim Lyon ’70 Scholarship Endowment Fund provides support to students who demonstrate qualities such as strong character and work ethic, as well as the ability to overcome personal obstacles in pursuit of a degree.  It is his goal with this fund to provide hard-working, dedicated students with the financial resources they need to attend The College of New Jersey and make a contribution to their field.

Scholarship recipients must be full-time School of Engineering students who are either entering their first year or rising juniors.  Preference is given to Technology Education students.  Recipients must have a grade point average (GPA) that meets graduation requirements for their degree, but otherwise the grade point average will not be a consideration.  For example, teaching degrees require a GPA of 3.0 and all other degrees require a GPA of 3.0.  The scholarship is renewable.

In order to apply for the Doris and Jim Lyon ‘70 Scholarship, include within your application explain your demonstrated qualities such as strong character and work ethic, as well as your ability to overcome personal obstacles in pursuit of a degree.

*In order to demonstrate financial need, the federal financial aid FASFA form needs to be submitted to TCNJ in addition to the letter mentioned above.
