Earlier this academic year, four members of the TCNJ Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) attended the 2021 SHPE National Convention in Orlando, Florida. Students and e-board members Michael Franco-Garcia (President, ECE ‘23 ), Zindy Diaz (Vice President-Internal, BME ‘22), Nigel Pacheo (Vice President-External, Interdisciplinary Business, minor in Computer Science ‘23) and Jason Rosen (Treasurer, ME ’22) represented The College at the largest gathering of Hispanics in STEM. Be sure to follow them on Instagram @shpe_tcnj for updates and future events.
President Michael reflects on his conference weekend, ”During our time at the National Convention, students were able to attend multiple sessions across the 5 day convention that dealt with different topics such as professional development, leadership development, academic development, chapter development, life after college, and graduate school. The highlight of this convention was the ability to talk to different recruiters during the career fair. Students were able to speak to some of the following companies: Abbott, Exelon, General Motors, Johnson & Johnson, Lilly, Nasdaq, Samsung and Tesla. Most of the attendees were able to land 1-on-1 interviews with these companies. An amazing opportunity truly!”
