Solar Power Charger

Students:

  1. Orlando Delacruz,
  2. Andrew Gildea,
  3. Chris Smith,

Advisors: A. Deese

The goal of this to design and build a solar power charger that maximizes efficiency. It will include a USB output and battery to hold charge while the sun isn’t available. The charger will be fully-functional and be able to power small electronics specifically cellular devices. The main goal of the project is a proof of concept since this project involves an in-depth understanding of the subject manner. Key considerations in this project is the amount of time it takes to charge a cellular device, protection from over charging the battery, and cost. Being able to construct this product for an efficient price would be profitable. The ability to run simulations is essential before the hardware implementation. With that being said, OrCAD will be used for simulations of the circuitry design.
