The purpose of this project is to allow both researchers and TCNJ students the unique ability to manipulate parameters and topology of a physical power system and observe its effects efficiently. It will include instrumentation software, and simulations to provide increased flexibility and a more innovative approach to electric power education and testing. The teams objective is to design and implement a master data acquisition and control station for the Smart Electric Power System. To develop an easy to use graphical user interface, and an algorithm to facilitate a two-way internet communication between data acquisition devices using Lab-views graphical programming language. As well as hardware controllers consisting of micro controllers, digital circuits and relays to allow actuation and control between modules. Implementation of such system can also have commercial potential. It will also geared towards providing an understanding of systems used to produce, distribute and control electricity in today’s commercial, domestic, and industrial settings.
