The Civil Engineering Department at the School of Engineering is very adept at preparing its students for the future. Many Civil Engineering students choose to go directly to work after graduation, however more students are finding that they want to pursue further education in graduate school. This year five students chose the graduate school option: Kathleen Evangelista ‘09, Sarah Hays ‘09, Nathan Holliday ‘09, Jacob Gulko ‘09, and Tim Walkowich ‘09.
Kathleen is pursuing graduate study in structural engineering at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, IL. Sarah is pursuing graduate study in environmental engineering at Penn State University. Nathan is pursuing graduate study in ocean engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology. Jacob is pursuing graduate study in structural engineering at the University of Texas A&M. Tim is pursuing graduate study in structural engineering at Rutgers The State University of New Jersey. In addition Dr. Nabil Al-Omaishi, Chair of the Civil Engineering Department, was recently informed that Christina Nolfo class of 2007 has just joined the master degree program in environmental engineering at Princeton University.
” Through my work on group projects and especially my senior design project at TCNJ, I felt comfortable coming into Penn State and jumping into research with a group of about 20 other graduate and post-doc researchers. I’m grateful for the background and skills I learned at TCNJ and feel prepared to take on this next (slightly bigger) step in my education!
I had a great experience at TCNJ, and now I’m loving the feel of a bigger campus with great resources and opportunities.”
Sarah Hays, Class of 2009
“I have always been fascinated by the ability of math and science to advance society. It was for this reason that I chose to pursue civil engineering at TCNJ. The small class sizes and the time each professor was willing to invest in my education have given me the ability to succeed in whatever path I choose. As a result of the knowledge I received at TCNJ my transition into my graduate studies has been effortless. I owe a lot of my success to the civil engineering department and my professors at TCNJ and I am reminded daily how valuable my experience at TCNJ was.”
Timothy Walkowich, Class of 2009
The Civil Engineering Program is proud of its graduate students as they continue their study across the country.
