Senior Project

The focus of our project is to design and create a wearable RF (radio frequency) energy harvester, that is incorporated into clothing (i.e. t-shirt, jacket), that performs some sort of simple functionality (i.e. charge simple devices). We plan to enter our design into the Mayo Business Plan Competition. Our device will derive energy from ambient sources, in the 2.45 GHz RF range (i.e. Bluetooth, WiFi, and ISM band devices). It uses an antenna to harvest the ambient RF energy, which is converted from RF to DC using a rectifier circuit, and is then stored in a super-capacitor until desired usage which outputs as USB.
