The SALT Design Studio has won the Honor Award for General Design from the PA-DE Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects for renovating the Chester Arthur Schoolyard in Philadelphia. The yard was transformed into an interactive lab to encourage learning and to engage students. A part of the schoolyard was transformed into a new and improved outdoor STEM learning center.
TCNJ’s Center for Excellence in STEM Education had an interesting and unique role in aiding the elementary school by partnering with Chester A. Arthur elementary school to improve and enrich the STEM curricula and resources at the school. The Center for Excellence took lead on this project in order to enhance STEM education at the school while exhibiting a commitment to improve STEM programs and education. The renovated schoolyard adds to the improved STEM education experience students will have.
