The objective of the TCNJ Baja Team is to construct a rugged, multi-terrain vehicle to compete in the nationally sponsored SAE Mini Baja competition. The construction of the vehicle is multi-faceted and involves research, design, analysis, fabrication, and testing. Adherence to engineering principles, standards, codes, and analysis software is necessary to create a safe, effective vehicle. Fabrication of the vehicle is done within TCNJ’s school of engineering and typically requires hundreds of hours of metalworking and assembly. Upon completion, the Baja car is tested in both static and dynamic events including: cost/technical reports, top speed, traction, land maneuverability, a sled pull and a four hour endurance race. The vehicle is projected to be completed in late January and will be brought to the competition at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tennessee to compete from April 18th to the 21st.
