The Merton D. & Sylvia Levey Scholarship is awarded annually to one currently enrolled full-time TCNJ engineering student who is pursuing a major course of study in engineering for the betterment of the utility industry, which includes electric, solar, water, and any other utility or energy-related industry that serves the public. The scholarship award is up to $2,000.00 (as specified by the TCNJ Foundation) and is automatically renewed each year as long as the GPA requirements are met. The winner of the scholarship will be selected based on financial need*, academic performance, and other characteristics including academic excellence, character, sincerity, leadership, integrity, trustworthiness, a positive attitude, and goal oriented. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. To be considered for the award, students must be majoring in an engineering major and be classified as a sophomore, junior, or senior during the year of the award (for example, interested freshmen should apply for their sophomore year).

The one-page letter of interest should include the applicant’s overall educational and career goals, a description of how their course of study can be applied to the utility industry, community activities & other personal characteristics important for this scholarship, as well as any special circumstances causing financial need*. The student’s academic performance will also be used to select a finalist.
*In order to demonstrate financial need, the federal financial aid FASFA form needs to be submitted to TCNJ.
