Alumni Spotlight: Scott Innocenzi, ’85, Wins PESMC’s STEM Teacher of the Year

Scott Innocenzi, an alum with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts Education, was named PESMC’s, Professional Engineers Society of Mercer County, STEM Teacher of the Year. The 55th Annual Awards Banquet was held on Saturday, Feb. 21 in the Mercer Oaks Banquet Facility in West Windsor, N.J. Innocenzi taught in the Trenton school system for two years and then at Steinert High School for another two. After teaching, he designed turbines and compressors for IMO DeLaval in Hamilton, N.J.

Innocenzi eventually took his experience from IMO DeLaval to Nottingham High School as a Technology Education teacher. Throughout his 21 years there, Innocenzi has taught Engineering Drawing, Computer Aided Design and Architecture and several technology courses, while incorporating different aspects of STEM into all of his. Innocenzi has been the chair of the STEM Department at the High School for the past 15 years and honored as their Teacher of the Year in 2007. Outside of the classroom, Innocenzi founded and advises the Nottingham’s Robotics team for 9 seasons and has coached the girls’ soccer team for the last 14 years.
