CE Students Attend 2014 ASCE Earth and Space Conference

Anthony DeVita and Stella Karcnik, two senior civil engineering students, recently attended the 14th ASCE International Conference on Engineering, Science, Construction and Operations in Challenging Environments in St. Louis, Missouri.

Plenary talks were given by Astronaut Dr. Don Pettit and Gregg Maryniak (Google X Prize and Singularity University). Technical presentations were given by lead engineers and designers in the field – including NASA’s SWAMPworks team, who are studying space settlement and space mining. Anthony and Stella plan to incorporate what they learned at the conference into their senior design project and lead underclassman in continuing interdisciplinary projects in this exciting field of civil engineering.
