TCNJ Magazine recently featured David Yasenchock, an engineering alumnus from the class of ‘89. He finished a year of active duty in Afghanistan in November 2012, and accepted an appointment as the Massachusetts’ State Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer. He was called in to help coordinate the response efforts during the Boston Marathon bombings.
In the article, David attributed his TCNJ bachelor’s degree in engineering with helping prepare him for his current career. He also credits one of his former engineering professors, Dr. Joseph Flynn, with giving him valuable advice. Professor Flynn told David, “When you get commissioned, don’t go in the infantry and don’t go into the artillery. You’re a smart guy. Use your engineering degree.” And that is exactly what David did.
