This fall, the School of Engineering hosted its fourth annual Alumni Mentoring Program Networking Event. The event, which was held in the New Education Building, brought together junior engineering students and their mentors. Mentors were specially chosen for each student based on the degree and career interest of both student and mentor. Every mentor is an alumnus of the Engineering program and come from a wide background of experiences, from graduate school students to the veteran managers at companies such as Lockheed Martin.
The event opened with a welcoming from Dean Schreiner as well as his thanks to the alumni for helping guide TCNJ’s future engineers. While students’ main goal may have been to learn about their mentor, many students, mentors and professors also gathered to discuss jobs, the engineering profession, and classes. The dean concluded by again thanking the alumni and students for coming, and encouraged the students to make the most of this opportunity. According to Dean Schreiner “We have 79 alumni who have volunteered to mentor 103 students this fall. Over the four-year history of the program we have had 155 alumni volunteers mentoring 445 students! These interactions are making our alumni network stronger every year.”
