Our project is to create a power assisted bicycle kit that would be bought at a store and installed on the end user’s bicycle. The assistance wouldn’t be like most systems on the market currently, where the kit applies assistance “on demand”, using a twisting throttle, mounted on the handlebars. Our system would provide the user no extra controls on the handlebars, instead having a microcontroller calculate the assistance required by measuring the force, and speed of the bike. This system would make the ride feel more natural as the motor speed would match your pedaling and allow you to relax while still moving at a decent pace.
